CHELSEA

I like this snapshot of Chelsea from a recent shoot. Not quite sure why?
Stuart Pilkington recently asked me to take part in a photographic project he is curating called The Chain. My task was to photograph my first childhood memory…
On the recent Houseparty Shoot we grabbed some time between snapping stills to shoot a little film of the day….

Often whilst working on commercial shoots, I try to steel a few moments to take Black & White Portraits of the models. The timeless quality of a monochrome portrait is always spellbinding for us photographers. Here is Georgia, 12, who I’d shot in the meadows surrounding my home as a little lifestyle test for an NYC Agency who’d asked to see some shots of the ‘Tween’ demographic, that did cause a scramble for the dictionary! Luke, who had been cast on the Camden Diner Shoot, is a very talented actor, watch out for him on the big screen…

Had a great day shooting in Camden last friday, while London was blessed in glorious sunshine! Mojitos were mixed, Champagne sprayed and warm beers consumed! Keep an eye out for the footage and snaps from the shoot soon. We had brilliant models, bad-ass location sorted by the lovely Siobhan at The Collective, and loads of help from Art Director Gemma plus Elkie, Jack & Tall Graham…

I’ve spent today location scouting for project I’m starting work on next month. Looking for locations plays to the inquisitive nature that all us photographers seem to share, but it can also feel frustrating, searching for a perfect place that might not even exist! All these shots were taken in the area surrounding my home, along the route of my (occasional) 10k run! It was nice to spend the day exploring…

Shot a fun lifestyle test for my folio / reel in glorious London sunshine at the Cantelowes Skatepark last week, with lots of help from talented mates Katie Ackerman & Jack Flynn, plus our lovely models. Here’s a couple of taster images from the shoot.

Heres a pic from the lifestyle shoot we did in Camden recently….

An irrational love of trees and sheep mean that I live out in the beautiful english countryside, but loads of my work is in London…. So I’m delighted to now have a full time london base at the super-cool RoofUnit! It’ houses desks full of talented photographers, plus me(!) and a studio… Really looking forward to moving in soon!

David Milligan-Croft is organising an Art Exhibition / Auction to raise funds for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. I was more than happy when I was asked to donate a framed print of my Gorilla photograph to the cause. Find out more information here and here. The auction is tonight in Manchester. Its a great project and I hope they raise lots of money!! :::: UPDATE over £5000 raised!

Here’s a little behind the scenes snap of us working away on a great little lifestyle photography shoot at The Diner in Camden. We’re starting to combine shooting motion tests whilst on personal projects, look out for the shots and a reel soon!
I had a new portfolio made last year by the lovely Cathy Roberts in London. I’m just getting round to pimping it around agencies and clients, so thought I’d show some pictures here too. I’ve got a Lifestyle book and a Portrait book, plus a swanky iPad folio with some other work, projects and video on, using the great foliobook iPad app. Its quite rare these days to get my book called in by clients, but its a lovely thing to see all the work on paper! I’m looking forward to getting the books out there…. If anyone wants to take a look, get intouch!
My mate Natasha Freeman has got herself a sparkly new blog! With suspiciously good taste in wordpress themes, she presents delicious unmissable delights, such as me walking backwards (see above!)… Natasha is a very talented artdirector / producer / stylist based in London. Defo check her work out here!

Here’s a recent snap of Karl…

I completed a lovely business shoot for brand Amadeus with agency Viva | Aspire this spring. Great client, creatives, crew & cast!

A quick out-take from today’s shoot in London…

A shot from today, runner Kate…

I was really delighted and more than a little surprised that my shot above from the vintage snapshot project won best image at the SUN AWARDS last night in Manchester. I must say a big thanks to Natasha, Hannah and ‘The Wife’ for their help with the shoot! Location was at Vintage Vacations.
The SUN AWARDS (shot up north) are a great collection of work from Non-London based photographers, Ed, Doug and the team do a wonderful job running the show!

I was looking through my archives the other day and thought it might be an idea to show some of that older work here on the blog. Its work that doesn’t quite fit into my main advertising and lifestyle portfolios. First up, here is a selection of photographs linked together by the colour blue.
One of my Mask shots as been used as the cover image for this months Drum Magazine
